Being an entrepreneur, Latino, and a member of the LGBTQ+ community is not easy. I thought I had to navigate the path alone, but I was mistaken. My business was able to survive COVID because of the support I got from the Mass LGBT Chamber of Commerce. They provided me with one-on-one assistance and tools to navigate all business, financial, operational, educational, and legal challenges. Becoming a Chamber member was the best decision I’ve made as a small business owner.
The Mass LGBT Chamber of Commerce is AWESOME! In the few short months that I’ve been a member, I’ve become certified as an LGBT business, received a $5,000 grant, and been offered an opportunity to have a display booth for my photography at the Big E. They took the time to learn who I am and what my business means to me. What other Chamber does that?
As a member of the Chamber, I have accessed many of their benefits, such as participation in the BEE program. The BEE program provided me with a business coach free of charge where I was able to access legal support to launch my business free of charge. As a new entrepreneur, the BEE program provided me with a business coach that helped me gain the tools necessary for the success of my business.
In my first meeting with the Chamber, we set a goal for me to run my business full-time. Less than a year later, I opened my first brick-and-mortar store and became my own boss. The LGBT Chamber has been instrumental in providing tools and support for my success as an entrepreneur.
Superlatives are everywhere these days but I can honestly say that no other organization has been more supportive of American Vinegar Works than the Mass LGBT Chamber of Commerce. From our first pitch competition to the opening of our first vinegar works facility — they’ve been there every step of the way and we are so grateful.
The hands-on support I received from the Chamber has supported me in certifying our business as an LGBTBE and successfully receiving the Digital Empower Grant to redesign our website.
